About Autism Assessment

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) presents differently in every individual. A comprehensive autism assessment at CPS evaluates social communication, restricted and repetitive behaviors, sensory processing, and adaptive functioning using multiple validated tools.

We assess children, adolescents, and adults — including individuals seeking a late diagnosis. Our evaluations are especially thorough for complex presentations, including autism in females, gifted individuals, and those with co-occurring ADHD or anxiety.

Every autism assessment at CPS includes the gold-standard ADOS-2 observation, cognitive testing, adaptive behavior measures, developmental history, and a comprehensive report with recommendations for therapy, school support, and community resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can adults be assessed for autism?
Yes. Many adults seek assessment after recognizing traits in themselves or their children. We have experience diagnosing autism in adults, including those who may have been missed or misdiagnosed.
How is autism different from ADHD?
While they can co-occur, autism primarily affects social communication and involves restricted/repetitive behaviors, while ADHD primarily affects attention and impulse control. Our evaluation differentiates between the two.
What happens after an autism diagnosis?
We provide a comprehensive report with recommendations for therapy (ABA, speech, OT), school accommodations, community resources, and support services.
Do you assess for autism in girls and women?
Yes. Autism in females often presents differently — with more social masking and fewer stereotypical behaviors. Our psychologists are experienced in identifying these presentations.
